tilting bikes

I like how the builder used Lego blocks for his test model !
I watched the video and it doesn't seem to show if the forks turn at all. They'd have to. I thought it was interesting . :usa: http://www.tiltingmotorworks.com/

I saw this on "Outrageous acts of Science'...... he made small car that it powered with a balloon full of dry air. he said one of the hardest things was to not smash them when they didn't work after all the time invested. ha...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pf3jnP6AbM0

Re: 34 to 32 tooth front pulley

Dave, When you get your pulley and begin to torque the bolts down, its good idea to mount a dial indicator w a magnetic base to the frame so you can be sure the run out is as close to zero as possible. Just my 2 cents from past experience. I clean the mating surfaces completely with scotch brite pad...

Re: Ignition Upgrade

I'm a fan of multi spark. I put a Crane multi spark setup on Joe's 383 with their external coil. There was enough room to put it behind the carb. He and I both noticed a difference in starting and the roll on feel. Especially the roll on. I suspected in his case that the timing curve just happened t...

Re: A friends bent frame

I wish all my welds looked this good , but they don't. I took it to a friend whose full time day job is building sprint car frames. Since the owner decided to go with powder coating instead of paint, it was another good reason to give it to Russ yesterday. I have only a few places to go over , then ...

Re: 7in headlight question

I put the J W Speaker on mine , and I like it . I don't have a lot of "night " miles on it yet but I'd give it a 9 out of 10 only because you can never have enough . I read the majority feel they are very well made also.

Re: A friends bent frame

I only needed three cups of coffee and some Cheerios to get going this morning since I worked New Years Eve. I got things to fit nice , and then tacked up. The grinding and sanding took quite a while but he's gonna like the fit and its better looking lines this time.

Re: coolant leak ?

When you say it spills from the overflow pipe when hot, what temp is the gauge showing during that ? Does it happen a lot ? Do you think the gauge reading is accurate ? You could check all the related connections and grounds for it along with the sender. Have you looked closely at the cap , and the ...

Re: A friends bent frame

I used a hole saw 1/8 " smaller than the neck OD, so there is room to true it up with a flapper wheel for a good fit. The welding rod hose clamped on the tube is so as I cut small bites off the length, I can rotate the tube if needed to get it to fit better, or just keep it where the previous c...

Re: A friends bent frame

Uh oh , time for a new plan . That flat plate just doesn't look right . I'm gonna grind the tacks off and have some tubing bent and get rid of it. The more I stare at it the more I don't like it. I don't think he would either. He said go ahead .

Re: Motor Mount Issues

Wild Bill, Here's my 2 cents. Yes you need those mounts. I agree the heads aren't the best place to create an attachment to the frame. And the mounts using the intake manifold bolts brought their own problems with the expansion and contraction cycles . Besides the early aluminum brackets prone to br...

Jack, thats good to hear. Mine is set up as you described with the rails being dead headed . Its funny now looking back, how I thought everything was gonna work fine and all I had to do was make sure it had proper wiring and no leaks.

Re: three wheeler progress

Jack, I agree that that returning the fuel to the tank allows it to be mixed with "cooler" fuel. But I also copied this text after some searching.... "In older return-type systems, the fuel pump delivers more fuel to the engine than it actually needs. The excess fuel is then routed ba...

Re: three wheeler progress

I lost track of the plan number I'm on with the fuel system, but this is going on next. It's Holley's 12-600 pump and a giant size 100 micron pre filter with -12an fittings. I'm betting this is gonna work based on I'm tired of switching things around.

Re: Fi for a 502 BB

I liked the features on the Holley Terminator, but it will not fit unless you modify the rear fuel rail on the right side by cutting and welding. I got their approval before I modified it. Their tech support has been great.

Re: Check your throttle cable!!!

I had ordered a throttle cable from Mark at Barnett Clutch, and he knew what I needed. The diameter of the inner cable is larger and he fixed me right up. Good guy to deal with if you are looking for a spare inner, or a new complete cable any length .

A friends bent frame

One of my good friends that we have biked with for many years , including a 5 day trip around the Grand Canyon, (AWSUM!!), has a bike shop and gave me a bent Shovelhead frame to fix for a build he wanted to do. That was three yrs ago. He's had plenty of other stuff going on and knew I was still mess...

Thanks to all of you for letting me share this. This one has really been harder than I thought. I tried to get ready for it over a year ago, but I guess you just don't "get ready". As a young boy he could nearly catch a rabbit , so his name fit perfect when his rear end would squat down as...

Re: three wheeler progress

After more digging into the fuel pressure issue, I found once again I did what they say not to. Never put a 90 degree fitting in the suction side of the pump. Straight, a sweep, or two 45's. I didn't know that. Then, I found a Holley pump that is good only for intermittent use when the temperature i...
